Mazda North American Operations made waves at the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas last week. The manufacturer allowed their designers to run wild and create the most unique vehicles their minds could develop. What they came up with is two stunning concept models, the MX-5 Miata Speedster Evolution and the MX-5 RF Kuro. The MX-5 Miata Speedster Evolution is the lighter of the two concepts and has been dubbed “ruthlessly efficient.” The MX-5 RF Kuro on the other hand, was made based off of the MX-5 RD retractable fastback that will be on sale next year. “With MX-5 Speedster Evolution, our goal was to further deliver the essence of what MX-5 has represented for the past 27 years—lightweight engineering and pure driving joy,” said Saward, who also owns and races a Spec Miata. “In the future, we might see if there is anywhere else we could take out weight.
