The Mazda CX-9 has been selected as a finalist for both the 2017 World Car of the Year Award and the 2017 World Car Design of the Year. If this vehicle takes home the win it will be the second year in a row that a Mazda vehicle has claimed both of these awards with the Mazda MX-5 Miata receiving both those titles in 2016.
“We couldn’t be more honored to have CX-9 recognized for two World Car of the Year categories,” said Masahiro Moro, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). “Last year was a magical moment for the entire Mazda family when MX-5 won, and we’re proud to be among the small number of vehicles voted to the finalists lists from markets all over the world.”
The second-generation version of this model was first released last Spring. It is equipped with a turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine, rigid SKYACTIV-CHASSIS and SKYACTIV-BODY, a responsive SKYACTIV-TRANSMISSION, and available predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel drive. Additionally, this model is the first in the Mazda lineup to be adorned with the Machine Gray Metallic premium paint color.
